Places API Playground
Try live OpenStreetMap points of interest: nearby cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, ATMs, EV chargers, and places open now. Search a bounding box or rank from the map center, then inspect the JSON before you write any code.
This endpoint is a wrapper around the OSM Features API and provides a more user-friendly interface with addiitional features like opening hours.
Use the viewport or a point + radius to search. Nearby ranks by straight-line distance, not walking time.

Points of interest you can query
These are the same OSM tags the API accepts. Click a row to load it into the playground. Hours filters need an OSM opening_hours tag; untagged places never count as open.

|---|---|---|
| Cafes Coffee shops in a neighborhood or within walking distance of a point. | amenity=cafe | |

| EV charging Charging stations for an EV map or trip planner. | amenity=charging_station | |

How it works
POST /v1/places/search returns a GeoJSON FeatureCollection for a bounding box or a location plus radius. POST /v1/places/nearby ranks one tagged set from a point (straight-line, nearest first) and returns items: [{ feature, distance_m }]. Every hit includes properties.openingHours (open, closed, or unknown). openNow=true keeps only places known open. Missing or unparseable hours are dropped.
A cafe finder is one search call. Filter with OSM tags, pin a location, and read names and hours from the FeatureCollection.

Nearby is the store-locator primitive: one tagged set, ranked from a point, each item carrying distance_m. Nearby is not a walking route.
